- Talostolida violacincta
- (Lorenz 2002)
- Item No. 330-4a
- French Polynesia.
Talostolida subteres subteres (Weinkauff 1881) (Left). Aratika Atoll, Tuamotus Islands. In 2-4 meters, under dead coral slabs. 19.2 mm T. subteres violacincta Lorenz 2002. Taiarapu, Tahiti. In 2 meters under dead coral. 20.3 mm
When compared side by side, the differences between these two are readily apparent. The high degree of callosity and the distinctly ribbed peristome in the violacincta being most prominent. This is a great opportunity to get both subspecies at a price less than they would sell for on the beach in Tahiti. The subteres subteres does have some minor lines on the right side and two pinpoint drills in base, but looks live collected otherwise. The s. violacincta is a live collected Gem. A fabulous comparison set.
